St. Elizabeth Grad Runs World’s Fastest 400m

A graduate of the St. Elizabeth Catholic High School class of 2022, Christopher Morales, achieved the extraordinary feat of running the world’s fastest indoor 400m track and field race at the SEC championship, clocking an impressive 44.49 seconds.

The track and field race at the Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship took place February 23 to 24, 2024. Due to an error beyond Christopher’s control involving a piece of monitoring equipment, it will not officially break the world record. But his time is considered 0.08 seconds faster than the record of 44.57 seconds.

What makes his accomplishment even more impressive is he was sick the morning of the race, “Actually, I was sick this morning. But I think that pushed me to try a bit harder. I just gave it [my] all and I kept going, kept going. And then I guess that’s always the result of it.” Despite facing illness, Christopher demonstrated determination by pushing through to secure his place in track and field history.

Christopher is currently attending the University of Georgia and is in his second year and currently holds the Canadian 300 record as well, which he set on January 13 at Clemson with 32.47 seconds.
