ST. ELIZABETH RAP VOCAL MUSIC: BLACK HERITAGE MONTH CHORAL RECORDING

During the month of February it has been an absolute joy to celebrate the immense contributions of the Black community on the world of music! We continue to appreciate the talent, artistry, passion and resilience of various Black artists both past and present. Music would never be the same without you!
St. Elizabeth Regional Arts Vocal students had the opportunity to learn a few choral pieces this month and all grades 9 to 12 gathered together for a rehearsal in our YCDSB Centre for the Arts. We have not had this opportunity for 2 years because of the pandemic, so it was truly a joyful experience for all of us to sing together in harmony!  Thank you to our Regional Arts Instrumental students for joining us with percussion.
We hope you enjoy our recording of 1) Funga Alafia (a West African welcome song), 2) Kawouno Wan Gi Pi (a song of gratitude from Kenya) & 3) Elijah Rock (an African American spiritual).
