REGIONAL ARTS PROGRAM
PHILOSOPHY
The Regional Arts Program at St. Elizabeth Catholic High School offers an integrated approach to learning through the Arts in a Christ-centred learning environment. Students specialize in Dance, Drama, Instrumental or Vocal Music or Visual Arts. Our Regional Arts Program encourages students to appreciate all areas of the Arts and to seek a balance between academics and the Arts. Students will be able to enhance and develop their artistic talents through participation in workshops, and Master classes with professional guest artists. Students in the Regional Arts Program will also be afforded many opportunities to perform, as part of an ensemble and in solo work, in front of an audience at a variety of events and in partnership with community groups through the run of the four year program.

Academic Expectations for Regional Arts Students
It is the expectation that each Regional Arts student will strive to maintain an average of at least 65% in his/her Arts specialty. Students who experience difficulties and who demonstrate an inability to meet with expectations of the school, their course work or of the program, in one or more of the following areas:

1. Academics
2. Behaviour/Conduct
3. Uniform
4. Attendance

will be formally placed on review. Parents will be contacted and a formal letter sent home to indicate that the student’s status in the program is under consideration. The next step of the process involves a meeting with the student, parents, the administration and guidance to determine what supports need to be put in place in order to ensure continued placement in the program. The student is placed on contract at this point. If there has not been a marked change in the areas targeted for improvement, according to the timeline set during the student case conference, the student will be removed from the Regional Arts Program. It should be noted that if a student is from out of the St. Elizabeth C.H.S. boundary, removal from the Regional Arts Program means that after the end of the semester or school year, as the case may be, the student will have to leave St. Elizabeth C.H.S. and register with the regular home school.
