Staying Informed
The Guidance Department diseminates information to the students of St. Elizabeth CHS through one or more of the following vehicles:
- PA announcements
- In school presentations
- Field trips
- Bulletin boards found outside of the Library
- Resource materials located in the Guidance Office
Guidance Curriculum
The Guidance Department is responsible for delivering the compulsory grade 10 Career Studies course coded GLC 2O1. This course is designed to guide students through an inquiry process that they will use to develop their personal career and life planning. Student progress will be assessed based on the four achievement categories as outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Guidance and Career Education curriculum document.
The counsellor's role is to counsel and to help, not to decide for students. Students are encouraged to make use of various planning tools in order to make informed decisions about their pathways. Counsellors also provide referrals, and liason with community social service agencies when necessary.
